Testing methodology
How fragrances are sourced and tested for longevity over time.
- I mainly buy 1.5ml authentic testers in bulk from online retail stores.
- Scent is subjective - keep personal preferences in mind.
- For longevity, I try to control variables as much as possible, apply fragrances consistently, and measure how long the scent remains detectable.
Tips
If you really like a fragrance, but it's too expensive, try this Clone finder:
Scent-wise, clones can get really close, the difference is usually longevity.
E.g. Dior Sauvage Elixir: the Zimaya Zukhruf Black is about 90-95% there scent-wise with around 4 hours of longevity. With the Dior, I've had days with to 10-12 hours. However, the Zimaya costs less than 1/10th.
